How to Get Out of the Army

Posted by Irresponsibility

This is an excerpt from a US Army document, reprinted in a Guardian feature. It cheered me right up.

I have known Private James M Hendrix since he was assigned to the Unit in Nov 61… Hendrix is poorly motivated for the military, has no regards for regulations, requires excessive supervision when performing his duties, pays no heed to counseling from his supervisors as to his shortcomings… at one point it was thought perhaps Hendrix was taking dope… Pvt Hendrix plays a musical instrument during his off duty hours, or so he says. This is one of his faults, because his mind apparently cannot function while performing duties and thinking about his guitar. …I recommend without hesitancy that Hendrix be eliminated from the service… as expeditious [sic] as possible.
